| Description |
The Kestrel 4500 Pocket Weather Tracker is Kestrel's flagship meter. Capable of monitoring and
reporting an exhaustive list of environmental parameters – from temperature to barometric pressure,
dewpoint, wind chill, and more**, the Kestrel 4500 is the most feature-rich pocket weather meter in the
entire Kestrel catalogue.
In addition to the Kestrel 4000's extensive list of capabilities, the Kestrel 4500 has
these distinct monitoring functions:
- Digital Compass
- Wind Direction
- Crosswind
- Headwind / Tailwind
These added features make the 4500 the Kestrel Meter of choice for military professionals,
HAZMAT teams, and flight crews. Like all the pocket weather meters in the Kestrel 4000 series,

For military professionals, the Olive Drab NV version of the Kestrel 4500 features a red night-vision
preserving backlight. Backlight incorporates optical filter to reduce overall brightness and minimize
blue and green spectrum light to preserve night vision. (Note: This backlight appears as a subdued,
almost white-pink hue, not "red", This is not an issue with the meter - this is how the light is
designed for optimal performance in low-light conditions. The light is still in the visible spectrum,
so is not compatible with night-vision equipment.)
All Kestrel Pocket Weather Meters are made in the USA and covered by
a 5-year warranty
against manufacturing defects. Additionally, every single Kestrel manufactured is calibrated for every
single value, either directly against NIST-traceable standards or against an intermediary standard
that is calibrated daily. Every unit is shipped with a FREE Certificate of Conformity that states
what calibrations were performed, and the certified performance specifications.

Kestrel Pocket Weather Meters and Horus Vision have partnered to provide
a powerful shooting tool that combines the critical environmental data and
targeting software solutions required for precision shooting -- all in one four-ounce pocket-sized unit.
Previously, shooters would need to obtain environmental data from a Kestrel meter and then
input that data into a PDA loaded with Horus ATrag ballistics software.
Now, the Kestrel Ballistics Weather Tracker with Horus ATrag Software contains
all of the necessary data and solutions in one device to minimize user workload and distraction.
Plus, the Kestrel meter is IP67 waterproof and MIL-STD-810F rugged, allowing users to avoid the
expense and weight of a ruggedized PDA.
The new unit allows users to load and customize multiple guns and rounds from the extensive
proprietary Horus database. Simple, intuitive screens allow the user to create up to six
targets customized for location, distance, direction, declination and winds.
The Kestrel meter's highly accurate measuring and averaging of wind and digital compass
for target bearing and wind direction assists in defining the target winds. Once these parameters are set,
the Kestrel meter takes over - tracking the current meta data and automatically updating the firing
solution using Horus ATrag advanced proprietary algorithms and taking coriolis and spin drift into account.
No additional user input is required.
