The TAB GEAR Pinnacle Rifle Sniper Sling (PRS), is the latest product in TAB GEAR's line of precision rifle slings. The PRS sling is a drastic departure from the traditional precision rifle slings with arm loops or arm cuffs. The PRS sling does not have an arm loop for the traditional “slung up” position (i.e. arm through a loop). This allows a lot more adjustment range at the front of the sling and has made it possible to eliminate excess webbing that was there for length of carry adjustment. The goal has been to remove as much material as possible from the sling yet maintain the ability to be a marksmanship aid in any shooting position.

With the PRS sling carried in a Patrol Carry method (muzzle down in front of the body), you are able to use the sling in every position from standing to unsupported prone without the need to come out of the sling.

The rear section of the sling called the "Tail" is sewn into the webbing for a very tight connection to the rifle. The PRS tail has a stiffer construction compared to other TAB GEAR slings in order to support the rifle when a rear bag is not available or feasible.

The center is where the shooter adjusts the sling for the carry length. It can be removed and connected to itself for easy storage allowing the remaining two sections of the sling to attach like a carry strap with the shooting loop still in place. The reasons for the two buckles are two fold, first it allows the shooter to get out of the sling quickly. So, regardless of how you sling your rifle there is an accessible buckle you can unclip in order to get the rifle into action quickly. Second it is designed to allow the removal of a rifle from an injured soldier in case he is incapacitated.

The PRS Sniper Sling with Fastex Buckles are not sewn into the webbing. They are attached with metal 1-1/2” metal sliders to allow them to be replaced if need be.

In addition, TAB GEAR has constructed a heavy duty loop out of the webbing that is in between the buckles. The loop is sewn in a way that prevents it from collapsing so it will stay open to allow the shooter to quickly unbuckle the sling from the tail at the back of the sling and clip the loop into a carabiner on the belt. There is enough adjustment range when clipped into a carabiner that allows the shooter to shoot from a tripod or transition to many different shooting positions by loosening or tightening the sling as needed. The Marine Corps has practiced shooting from a tripod for many years with the sling attached to a carabiner on the belt and recently more people have begun using and practicing shooting using this method.

The front is the Rapid Adjust System (RAS) which used to adjust the length on the fly while in different shooting positions. Up until now the shooter has been limited in his ability to adjust the sling for slung up positions. You had to mark your sling for different positions and it was time consuming to go from one position to another. Usually you would setup your sling for one position and just live with it in any other position. The RAS has solved this problem with the Rapid Adjust buckle that is in between the shooters loop and front swivel. The critical adjustment feature of the RAS is to make sure that the Rapid Adjust Buckle is adjusted so that the shooter can easily reach the straps to tighten and loosen the sling when in a shooting position.

The 1-1/2” tightening webbing section controls the quick tightening adjustment and does not have the buckle sewn in. This is to allow the user to simply cut off and re-melt the webbing should it be determined that that much adjustment range is not needed.

The 1" release tab webbing on the quick adjust cam buckle controls the quick release adjustment and has been changed by having two layers of 1” webbing sewn together to make the release stiffer. It has also been lengthened and the webbing is folded and bar tacked at the end to create a large “knot” for an easier and more secure grip when releasing tension on the sling.

TAB GEAR has also installed another triple section of webbing with stiffening material added, similar to the tail, that is sewn to the front portion of the quick-adjust cam buckle. Anyone who has ever had to shoot from a Hawkins position, which is prone with no bipod touching the ground, and the rifle resting on the clenched fist, has found out that the clenched fist is almost high enough to be comfortable but not quite. The hard point that has been installed directly to the front of the quick adjust buckle acts as a mono pod to support the rifle in a Hawkins position supporting the full weight of a twenty-pound rifle.

This model of TAB GEAR PRS Sniper Sling uses the proven ITW Fastex buckle system.
